Shoe size systems
There are 7 different major shoe-size systems globally, with the US, British, European, and Japanese size systems as the most common ones.
For the US and the British systems, sizes vary between men’s and women’s shoes (e.g. a men’s 10.5 is a women’s 11.5). Note that this does not apply to children’s shoes in these systems. The US system also has a special category for athletic shoes.
In Europe, shoemakers are supposed to follow the same (shoe-size) system. Note, however, that sizes might differ between European countries (e.g. France and Germany). The sizes are also not entirely standardised, which means that shoes from different manufacturers might have differences in size, even though they have the same measurements.
These charts are used for converting between different international shoe size systems, for men’s and women’s shoes.
Bra Size Guide
Find the right band size
To find your band size, put on a non-padded bra that fits you well and stand in front of a mirror. Wrap a measuring tape around your body just underneath your bust. The measuring tape should be horizontal to the floor, and quite snug.
The measurement in inches is your band size. If it is an odd number, round down to the nearest even number.
To find your bust size, measure around the fullest part of your breasts. Take this measurement and subtract the band measurement (e.g. if you measure 31 underneath your breasts, and 34 around, the result is 34-31 = 3). Use the result to find your cup size below:
Cup size = Bust size – Band size:
0 = AA
<1 = A
1 = B
2 = C
3 = D
4 = DD
5 = DDD/E
6 = F
7 = G
8 = H

To measure your hat size, wrap a tape measure around your head just above your ears and at the centre of the forehead. The tape should fit comfortably – not too tightly. Round up to the nearest size. You can also use a piece of string and then measure it with a normal ruler.

Suit jackets, blazers, and coats
Men’s US sizes for suit jackets, coats, and blazers are based on the chest width and your height. When you measure your chest, you should place your finger between the measuring tape and your body. The result will simply equal your jacket size. You then have to choose between short (S), regular (R), or long (L), depending on your height.

American dress shirt sizes have two size numbers. The first is your neck size and the other is your sleeve length, both in inches. European dress shirts, however, only have one size number, for the neck size, and standard sleeve lengths. This chart converts between American and European neck sizes.

In Britain and the US, dress shirts have two different measurements: your neck size and your sleeve length, both in inches.
Once you have your neck measurement, round it up to the nearest whole or half size. For example, if your neck measures 16.3, choose a 16.5 collar.
Add an extra inch to your sleeve measurement and round this up to the nearest even number.
There are also different fits: Slim, Athletic, Regular, and Full. The Slim fit is tight around the chest and sides. The Athletic fit (also called tailored fit) is tighter at the waist but leaves more room for the chest. The Regular fit is the standard fit and quite loose while the Full fit is the loosest.
Getting the right shirt fit
- Check the cuff size. When you button the cuff, it should not be able to slip over your wrist.
- Make sure the shirt fits properly over your shoulders. The shoulder seam should be right where your shoulder ends.
- Tuck the shirt and stretch your arms over your head. The shirt should be long enough not to get untucked.
- Bend your arm. The shirt sleeve should be long enough so that the cuff does not slide up your forearm.

American baby sizes are based on the age, but since babies may vary a lot in size, it is better to base the size on the baby’s weight and height. Use the chart below to find the correct size for your baby.
For toddlers and small kids, use the first size chart which is for both girls and boys. For older children, use the respective chart for girls and boys.
